Requirements
  • macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later
  • Apple silicon or Intel Mac
  • a P3-capable display is recommended for accurate film stock previews
Getting Started
  1. open a photo via File > Open, or drag a RAW or image onto the app
  2. open the Looks panel from the toolbar and pick a film stock
  3. adjust with the other HUDs: tone, white balance, curves, HSL, masks, crop, perspective, effects
  4. save via the Output panel: pixel-sized image file or print to paper with soft-proofing
Supported Files

raws and standard image formats:

  • raw: sony (arw), nikon (nef), canon (cr2, cr3), fuji (raf), leica (dng), ricoh (dng), most other cameras Core Image supports
  • standard: open jpeg, heif/heic, tiff, png, webp. export tiff, jpeg, png
Sidecar Files

edits are saved to a json sidecar next to the original photo, with the same base name (e.g. DSC_0001.arwDSC_0001.json). the original raw or jpeg is never modified.

moving the photo to another folder? bring the sidecar with it. the edit travels with the file.

Troubleshooting
  • install the latest version from the Mac App Store
  • quit and reopen the app if it gets stuck
  • if a raw won't open, check the format against the list above. ongi relies on macOS Core Image for raw decoding, so support follows what your version of macOS supports
  • if your edits seem missing after reopening a photo, look for the json sidecar next to it. if the sidecar moved, the edit moved with it
  • if the Looks panel is empty, the app bundle is corrupt. delete and reinstall from the Mac App Store
  • if a stock looks washed-out or blown-out, check your display profile in System Settings > Displays > Color
  • if print colors look wrong, check that you've picked a printer profile that matches your paper in Output > Paper
Purchases

purchases are processed by Apple through the Mac App Store. miraisoft does not see or store payment information.

  • view or refund through the App Store app > your account > Purchase History
  • or System Settings > Apple ID > Media & Purchases > Manage
  • billing questions go through Apple Support
Bug Reports

useful detail when reporting a bug:

  • app version (Ongi > About Ongi)
  • macOS version (Apple menu > About This Mac)
  • Mac model and chip (M1 / M2 / M3 / M4 / Intel)
  • file format and camera that produced the file, if relevant
  • what happened versus what you expected
  • steps to reproduce, if you can find them
